Irish Invitational Results

Friday, August 29

The Como Park boys and girls XC teams traveled to Rosemount this morning for the Irish Invitational.

The girls race featured 5 of the top 7 ranked teams in the state AA rankings. The Como girls took 17th out of 21 teams, a strong improvement from last season.

The Cougars were led by Emma Lee, who moved up strongly over the second mile, to come within 15 seconds of the top runner with her 12:18 finish. Veterans Leah Roth, Jane Kramer, and Sarah Davy all improved on past performances, and newcomer Alisha Wilber made her mark as the team's #3 runner in her first meet.

The boys placed 17th out of 19 teams, also an improvement over last year, despite missing a pair of varsity senior runners. Senior Ross Anderson led the way with a time of 11:00, followed by super-frosh Nate Rue, who clocked an 11:48 in just his second cross country meet. Junior Richard Konkol stepped up big time, moving from the #9 on the team last week to #5 today.

Two years ago, Como Park came to this meet and did not even run anyone in the girls varsity race. We have come a long way! Congratulations Cougars, and keep up the hard work.
